Young's Bicycle Shop is Nantucket's only full service bike shop, and as such we repair and provide maintenance for the lion’s share of bikes on the island. That means that wait times can skyrocket once everyone starts bringing in their bikes to us in the spring and early summer, so plan ahead and call to get your bike in the queue!

Bike repair & maintenance services

We're equipped to help with most bike repair and maintenance situations. That being said, please call ahead to ensure we can address your needs. Here are our most popular services we provide:

  • Flat tire repair
  • Full tune-ups
  • Drivetrain & brake maintenance
  • Tubeless tire setup (for compatible wheels/tires)
  • Bike boxing and shipping
  • Suspension service only through off-island service centers - be prepared for it to take 2-4 weeks or more during the busiest seasons.

What to expect at our shop

Young's is very busy in the summer, so it's best to call ahead and speak with the service department directly before bringing your bike in. Depending on the number of bikes ahead of you, we may not be able to store your bike at the shop until closer to the day of your scheduled service.

If you've scheduled your appointment, go ahead and wheel your bike to the back of the building where our service department is located. Someone at the counter will check you in. Our staff will go over the work to be done and make sure everything is in order. We'll give you a ticket unique to your bike to hold on to until your return for pickup.

If anything comes up while we're working on your bike, we'll be sure to call you before making any changes or additions to the agreed upon service. We collect payment at pickup.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an appointment to get my bike repaired at Young's?

In the spring and summer you absolutely do! The second the weather gets nice enough to ride we get inundated with work and wait times skyrocket.

Do you fix ebikes?

We service ebikes ONLY from the brands we carry - Trek, Cannonale, and Electra. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are unable to accommodate other ebike brands.

Do you fix scooters or other e-mobility devices?

We apologize, but no, we do not fix scooters, etc.

Do you offer pickup and delivery services?

Yes, we will happily pick up and/or deliver your bicycle(s). We provide this service on a scheduled basis and charge $50 each way.

How long will it take to get my bike repaired?

This is a difficult question to answer, because repair times vary depending on the time of year and type of repair. Flats are typically turned around in 24 hours or less throughout the season (though flats can take up to two days during peak season). Specific adjustments to braking or shifting in season take two to five days. Tune-ups are by appointment only, and during the first half of the season (April to late July) wait times for these services can be as long as four weeks. Please always call ahead before bringing your bike down to the shop! 

How much does it cost to get my bike repaired?

We can give you a rough, broad strokes estimate for various services over the phone, but without seeing the bicycle we cannot give you a true price or timeframe estimate.
